CCTV images issued as part of investigation into assault in Liverpool city centre

We have issued CCTV images of two men we want to trace following an assault in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Sunday 23rd March.

At around 1.30am, two men were walking near Villa Romana on Wood Street when they passed a group of men and women. As they passed, they were assaulted by three men from the group resulting in them being left unconscious. They were taken to hospital for treatment to head injuries.

A 27-year-old man from Ellesmere Port was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and has since been released under investigation.

Detectives are keen to speak to the two men pictured as they believe they have information which could assist the investigation

Detective Inspector Paul Nilsen said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the Wood Street area who saw the incident or anyone who recognises the two men in the CCTV images to come forward with information.

“Liverpool is a safe place to live and visit and incidents such as this will not be tolerated.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, or call 101 quoting reference 19100131172 or contact @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
