CCTV images issued by detectives investigating murder of Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud in Toxteth

Officers investigating the murder of Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud in Toxteth on Thursday, 28 March have issued CCTV images of two potential witnesses they wish to speak to.

Emergency services were called to Bentley Road at around 1.35pm to reports that a man had been stabbed in the neck. Emergency services attended and Hassan was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  

A 28-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been detained under the Mental Health Act.

An investigation is ongoing and detectives have now issued images of a man and a woman they would like to speak to them and get any information to help the ongoing investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Rhodes said: "We are keen to speak to the man and woman pictured as they could be potential witnesses. I would like to make it clear that they are not suspected of having any involvement in the offence, and would encourage those pictured, or anyone who knows who these people are, to contact us at the earliest opportunity.

"Likewise, we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the murder of Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud. You may have witnessed the incident, have CCTV or dashcam footage and any information, no matter how small could prove vital to our investigation."
