CCTV images released following rogue traders in Mossley Hill

We have released CCTV stills of four men we believe could have information to assist an investigation after an 86-year-old man had a quantity of cash stolen by four men who had agreed to do work on his home in Mossley Hill.

At around 4.30pm on Saturday, 17 August, the victim was approached by four men, at his home address, who offered to do some repairs on the property for him. The victim handed over cash and the work was never carried out.

The four men said they would return but they never did. The men are believed to have been driving a Silver Chrysler Voyager.

Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson, said: "I would like to reassure people that this type of offence is rare, but when it does happen it can have a big effect on the victim, particularly as they are often elderly or vulnerable.

"Most people who agree to do work will be genuine but the best defence against bogus workmen is to remember, if in doubt, keep them out and only agree to have work completed by recognised tradesman.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who may recognise any of the men on the CCTV stills to come forward. If you have any information on this incident please do get in touch, as any information could be vital to our investigation.”

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have information which could help them with their inquiries to call them. If you have information contact @MerPolCC or 101 quoting reference 19100397672 CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
