Detectives appeal for alleged assault victim to come forward

Detectives investigating reports of an assault in Northwood on Saturday night (21 September 2019) are appealing directly to the victim to come forward.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman struck to the face by a man close to St Mary’s Social Club on Kennelwood Avenue at about 8.35pm.

It is believed she may have a cut to the face as witnesses reported seeing an amount of bleeding to her forehead.

The woman was reportedly taken into the club by members of the public, but had left before officers arrived. Police have not yet located her, despite extensive enquiries in the area and with hospitals.

Potential witnesses have been spoken to and CCTV enquiries have also been carried out in the surrounding area.

Detective Inspector Tony O'Brien said: “First and foremost we are concerned that the victim of this incident could have sustained an injury that may require medical attention, and for her sake would like to make sure she is safe and well.

“The woman may also have information that will enable us to get a much better understanding of this incident.

“If you are the woman involved, or suspect you know who it might be, I would urge you to do the right thing and contact police so we can make sure you are ok and fully investigate what happened.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information which could help detectives with their inquiries, is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
