Detectives appeal to community for info after shots fired in Kirkby

Detectives are investigating after shots were fired in Kirkby tonight, Friday 27 September.

At around 7.30pm, emergency services were called to Daleside Road to reports of shots being fired. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and confirm that nobody has been injured.

Officers will remain at the scene tonight to carry out house-to-house, forensic and CCTV, supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

Detective Inspector Tony O'Brien said: “We will be making extensive enquiries in the area tonight and I would ask that the Kirkby community comes together and people tell us what they know.

“If you saw shots being fired, or anyone making off on foot or in any vehicles around 7.30pm, let us know in any way you can. Home CCTV, dashcam and mobile phone footage: all can be vital in finding those responsible and removing them and their dangerous weapons from your streets.

“We take daily action against those who endanger others with firearms, seizing weapons and drugs, and disrupting criminals where they cause the most harm. Help us continue to keep the pressure on and make your communities hostile places for criminals to operate.”
