Unconfirmed firearms incident in Netherton

We can confirm we are currently at the scene of an unconfirmed firearms incident on Gorsey Lane/Sterrix Lane in Netherton.

We received reports of a shot being fired by a passenger on a motorbike at two males on bicycles, just after 5.30pm today, 8 July.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as traffic is being diverted away from Gorsey Lane and Sterrix Lane via Green Lane and Hatton Hill.

We are currently investigating with officers carrying out house to house enquiries and we are currently looking at CCTV but also encourage anyone that witnessed the incident, or has information including passing vehicles with dash cam footage to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting log 0731 of 8th July.
