Four charged following shop burglary in St Helens

We have charged four men following a burglary at a shop in St Helens in April.

Patrols were called to the Co-op store in Chain Lane after reports the premises had been broken into at around 10.25pm on 15 April.

On arrival, officers found that a side shutter had been damaged, a door forced and a ceiling panel pulled down. A quantity of cigarettes were stolen and cash was taken from the ATM.

The following men have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary with intent to steal relating to this incident, as well as incidents in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

  • Nathan Bellfield, 27 years, of Caroline Street, Stockport
  • Werner Berning, 30 years, of Derby Street, Stockport
  • Gavin Singleton, 34 years, Woodlands Close, Derbyshire
  • Wayne Singleton, 29 years, Woodlands Close, Derbyshire

All four have been remanded in custody to appear at court on a date yet to be confirmed.
