Man arrested following shooting in Bootle

We have arrested a man this afternoon (Friday 21 June) following a shooting in Bootle on Wednesday night.

A report was received at 10pm that two shots had been fired in the direction of a group on Hawthorne Road, between its junctions with Earl Road and Sussex Street.

It was reported two males on a motorbike stopped before one of the males got off the vehicle and fired a handgun in the direction of the group. There were no reports of any injuries.

The males were then seen to leave the area, and the motorbike was ridden south along Hawthorne Road, towards Kirkdale.

Officers attended and damage to two windows consistent with a firearms discharge has been located at the Betfred bookmakers and Best One shop on Hawthorne Road.

A 31-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a Section 1 firearm on Friday. He has been taken to a police station to be questioned.
