Man charged with three assaults after Southport incident

A man has been charged with three assaults following an incident in Southport on Thursday (4 April).

Officers were called to the Smoooch Dessert Bar on Hoghton Street, Southport, in which three people were reportedly assaulted and damage was caused to a window.

Three people – a 22 year-old woman, a 74 year-old man and a 64 year-old woman - were taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises. They have since been allowed home.

Richard Shacklady, 28 years, of Thurston, Skelmersdale has been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm, two counts of common assault and criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court on Saturday (6 April).

At the hearing he was further remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 7 May.
