Man in hospital after being shot in Huyton last night

Merseyside Police are investigating after a 25 year old man was shot yesterday evening (28th August).

The incident is reported to have happened just before 11:15pm on Hathersage Road, Huyton when reports were received that the victim, who had been walking with his friend at the time, had suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were examined and luckily are not thought to be life threatening.

Although the full circumstances are unclear at this time, it is believed that this is a targeted attack.

Detective Inspector Nick Suffield said: “Anytime someone is shot in Merseyside or I hear of a person carrying a gun it scares me to think what could have happened. This man is fortunate that his injuries, although shocking, are not life threatening. I am keen to find the person/s responsible and get these dangerous weapons off our streets.”

Officers will remain in the area this morning carrying out further house to house enquiries and forensic analysis. Anyone with information should come and talk to us directly, DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @CrimestoppersUK anonymously quoting ref: 1052 of 28th August.
