Merseyside Police and partners conduct day of high visibility activity - Woodchurch, Birkenhead

Merseyside Police and partners have conducted a day of high visibility activity in and around the Woodchurch estate today (Friday, 14 December 2018).

The activities are being carried out following a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Officers have been based in Sainsbury's, Upton giving out home security devices, advice and offering a cycle marking service and the Community Policing team have been conducting high visibility patrols assisted by councillors from Wirral Council.

The force’s Roads Policing Unit have been out stop checking cars to target drink and drug drivers, and general enforcement to tackle drivers committing driving offences

Community Inspector Paul Harrison said: "We have been carrying out a number of activities today and I hope they send a clear message that we will not tolerate those people who disrespect our communities by engaging in anti-social behaviour. We will take all action possible to deter them from engaging in such behaviour and to bring them to justice if they do.

“We have strong relationships with partner agencies and work together with them on activities such as those that have taken place today to ensure we can ensure the Woodchurch estate and surrounding area is a safe place to live.

"We will continue to take action whenever the community tells us there are problems. I would appeal to anyone with information about anti-social behaviour and any criminal behaviour in their area to contact us and I can assure them that we will take action. We will be concentrating on areas where people have told us they are suffering the effects of this behaviour."
