Operation Castle: Wirral man Liam Brennan sentenced to four years in prison burglary and theft offences

Detectives from Operation Castle, our ongoing response to burglary in Merseyside, have welcomed the four-year sentencing of a Wirral man for burglary and theft offences earlier this year.

27-year-old Liam Brennan, originally from Birkenhead but lately of Moreton, was arrested in June after being circulated wanted to police and the public since April.

Brennan was subsequently charged with the following offences:
A burglary and two thefts of two cars from the same incident in April at an address in Bebington (two cars were later recovered); disqualified driving; a burglary from a garage in Heswall in May in which a car was used to try and force access to the business.

Brennan was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday (19 July) at Liverpool Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Steve Ball, who leads Operation Castle, said: “Brennan has been an absolute menace to communities in Wirral for some time, as evidenced by those offences for which he has been convicted and sentenced.

“We are pleased that Brennan is off the streets and hope that people across the Wirral are reassured by this news.

"At Operation Castle, we continue to locate, arrest and put before the courts those who invade homes and businesses in our communities, and in doing so cause great distress and harm to victims. Tell us what you know and we’ll act on all your information to keep having such positive results.

“There is crime prevention advice available on our website and I would particularly ask that people lock all their windows and doors before going to bed, move any vehicle keys away from sight of windows and the reach of letter boxes and lock garden tools in sheds so that they cannot be used to force entry into properties.”
