Police in Kirkby following collision -Moorgate Road

We are currently attending to an incident in Kirkby this evening, Tuesday, 16 July. 

Shortly before 8pm, a Vauxhall Zafira came to the attention of officers in the area. A pursuit was carried out and the Zafira, which was travelling the wrong way down the road, collided with an oncoming moped on Moorgate Road.

Emergency services attended and the rider of the moped, a male, has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. A 20-year-old man from Kirkby has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to stop. He has been taken to a local police station for questioning.

The incident has been referred to the IOPC and police remain at the scene.
