Shotgun recovered from abandoned car in Liverpool

We have recovered a firearm from a car following enquiries yesterday, Thursday 25th July.

The single barrel shotgun was found in an abandoned Renault Megane in Croxteth Drive, Sefton Park.

The firearm has been recovered for forensic enquiries to be carried out. Enquiries are ongoing to identify users of the vehicle and any linked offences.

Detective Chief Inspector Robbie Moss said: "It is pleasing to see another firearms removed from the streets of Merseyside, and we will be working to establish if it linked to any recent incidents on Merseyside or elsewhere.

"Every gun we find removes a weapon that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm to the people of Merseyside, and clearly each of these weapons have the potential to cause serious fear and risks to people in the area.

"If anyone has any information about those involved in gun crime, or who knows where weapons are being stored, please keep contacting us so that these positive results continue."

Anyone with information on the storage and use of firearms can contact @MerPolCC, call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
