Tuebrook man found guilty of Murder and sentenced to 17 years behind bars

Merseyside Police have today (26th June) welcomed the sentencing of a 38 year old man from Tuebrook after he was found guilty of Murder.

Michael McConville, 38, of Prescot Road, Tuebrook was found guilty of Murder following the death of 57 year old David Capseed on 3rd January and sentenced to 17 years behind bars.

Mr Capseed, who also lived at a supported living residential premises on Prescot Road, sustained a brutal attack, with McConville stating that he wanted to "teach him a lesson". He suffered injuries to his head and despite paramedics’ best efforts, they were unable to save him.

A Home Office post mortem later took place and concluded that he died as a result of blunt force head, neck and chest injuries with severe ischemic heart disease.

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Rhodes said “I’m pleased with the sentencing Mr McConville has received today and hope that the family of Mr Capseed can find some comfort in this result.

“Mr Capseed died following a brutal attack that McConville inflicted on him. My continued support therefore remains with his family and friends at this undoubtedly difficult time.

“I want to also take this opportunity to thank the investigative team that have worked to secure this outcome and in bringing McConville to justice.”

David's son Nathan added "My Dad battled his demons, but he loved me and my brothers Cain and Cody more than anything.

"Since I’ve lost my dad, I feel like a piece of me has gone and I don’t think I’ll ever get it back. I have many fond memories of my dad from when I was younger, but unfortunately now these memories are now all I have.

"My Dad passing away in such horrific and violent circumstances has had a massive effect on my day to day life. I’ve suffered with mood swings which has effected my relationship with my partner, but luckily she has been very supportive. I’ve struggled with low motivation struggling to do daily tasks that I wouldn’t normally require any effort.

"My brothers and I feel we’ve been robbed of our Dad. He will not be involved in our futures, he’ll never see me get married, and he’ll never meet his grandchild and watch him grow. He’ll never see Cain and Cody grow into young men and make lives for themselves as adults. He’ll not see the boys graduate from school or help them celebrate their birthdays or Christmas. We’ll not be able to do any of these things now because he was taken away from us in such a horrible way"

**Lynsey Wilson, 33, of Greenhill Road, Mossley Hill pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to a 2 year community order with a 30 day rehab requirement.
