Two arrested after burglary in Hunts Cross

We arrested two men following a pursuit after a van was stolen from a driveway in Hunts Cross.

A report was received at about 4.45am on 19 June that offenders had entered a house on Barford Road through an insecure front door and taken keys to a van and a mobile phone. They then drove the white Ford Transit van from the driveway.

The vehicle was pursued by police for a short time before it was in collision with another vehicle on Stamfordham Drive.

Two men left the van and made off on foot, before being detained. A discarded knife was recovered nearby.

An 18-year-old man from Belle Vale and a 19-year-old man from Hunts Cross were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft, possession of an offensive weapon in public, aggravated vehicle taking, drug driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. The 18-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
