Two arrested and multiple items recovered following stop check in Birkenhead

We have arrested two men and recovered various items following a stop check in Birkenhead last night, Monday 9 September.

At around 6pm, officers on patrol sighted a Ford Focus on Green Lane, which was followed and stopped on Clifton Crescent. A smell of cannabis was detected and following a search, multiple tools, a knife and cannabis were found.

A 43-year-old man from Tranmere was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and drug driving
A 39-year-old man from Tranmere was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, possession of controlled drugs, possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapon

Both men have been taken to police stations for questioning.
