Two men arrested and suspected drugs seized following stop check in St Helens

We have arrested two men and seized suspected drugs and paraphernalia following a stop check in St Helens yesterday evening, Tuesday 25 June.

At around 5.25pm, officers on patrol sighted a Volvo on Crow Lane East, Earlestown with two occupants, which was suspected of being uninsured. The car was stopped on Crow Lane West, Newton-le-Willows and a strong smell of cannabis identified. Suspected cannabis and other items were seized and two men were detained.

A further search led to suspected cocaine being seized. The car was also forensically recovered.

A 20-year-old man from Ashton-in-Makerfield was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
A 22-year-old of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled Class A drugs.

Both men have been taken to a police station for questioning.
