Update - murder of Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud in Toxteth

Merseyside Police can confirm that a 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The Post Mortem results for Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud confirm that he died from a single stab wound.

Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Toxteth have arrested a man tonight, Friday 29 March.

The 28-year-old man from Toxteth was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station for questioning.

We can now also officially confirm the name of the victim as 29-year-old Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud from Toxteth.

Officers were called to Bentley Road at around 1.35pm on Thursday (28 March) to reports that a man had been stabbed in the neck.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
