Detectives investigating the injury shooting in Prenton last night (Thursday, 7 February) of a 35-year-old man are continuing to appeal for information.
The incident took place at around 7.15pm, when the victim was leaving an address on Edgemoor Close with his 7-year-old daughter, when he was shot, causing serious injury to his leg. His daughter was uninjured but left extremely shaken.
The man was taken to hospital, where he continues to be treated for injuries to his leg, which are not thought to be life threatening.
Officers are treating this incident as targeted incident but are keeping an open mind as to the motive.
Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: “This is an extremely shocking incident and I’m sure the community would agree that the anyone who is willing to use a gun this way in the presence of a child, needs to be taken off our streets and brought to justice.
“It is only through sheer luck that this child wasn’t injured and I’m sure my outrage and shock is shared by all. I would therefore appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information about it, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, to get in contact.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the shooting, who might have dash-cam footage and would also be particularly keen to speak with anyone who saw a dark coloured estate driving in this area to get in contact.”
