Witness appeal following stabbing of man in Kirkby on Wednesday

Detectives are appealing for information following a stabbing in Kirkby on Wednesday afternoon, 17 April.

At around 5pm, the victim, a 19-year-old man, was approached on Bank Lane, Tower Hill by unknown males and stabbed, sustaining superficial wounds to his face and legs.

He was taken to hospital and is not currently assisting detectives with their enquiries. It is believed that the incident was targeted.

CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are urged to come forward.

Detective Inspector Sue Hinds said: "This was a busy time of day and would have been alarming to witness, although thankfully the victim’s injuries were not serious.

"Were you passing and saw any altercation or males running off? Your information or dashcam footage could be vital so come forward, either directly or anonymously to Crimestoppers, which is independent of the police.

"We will pursue anyone who recklessly carries or uses bladed weapons on our streets, as we know how catastrophic the consequences can be. Detectives will act on all information given to bring those involved to justice."

Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 with reference 19100185019 or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
