Moray making progress on Children's services

A follow-up report on children's services in Moray has been released by the Care Inspectorate today (Dec 5).

In a statement today, inspectors said they were confident that partners have taken the findings of the earlier inspection “very seriously” and that the Moray partnership was working hard to deliver change and improvement.

They said encouraging progress was now being made across most of the recommendations made in February.

Karen Reid, chief executive of the Care Inspectorate, said: “We are pleased to note that some progress has been made on addressing the matters raised at our last inspection."

The Chief Officer’s Group, which comprises Roddy Burns, Chief Executive of Moray Council; Susan Webb, Director of Public Health NHS Grampian; Campbell Thomson, Chief Superintendent of Police Scotland, welcomed the findings of inspectors.

The group (COG) have overseen the actions and responses to February’s report on Moray’s Children’s Services, and in a statement accepted all the findings in the follow-up report.

Chair of the COG, Susan Webb, said that the Care Inspectorate has provided positive support to to the partnership since the inspection last year.

“The Chief Officers in Moray took the findings of the Inspection report very seriously and undertook urgent action to improve how services work together to deliver better outcomes for children in Moray.

“Staff across the partnership have worked hard to ensure the necessary improvements have been made.

“We know there is more to do but we are pleased with the direction of travel that Children’s Services in Moray is now taking.”
