Moray schools have STEM experiments in the bag
EXPERIMENTS in a bag were given to three schools in Moray today to support family learning.
Schoolchildren at Portessie, Findochty and St Gerardine primary schools will pilot the STEM initiative, receiving 50 bags per school. These bags hold experiments which pupils can carry out at home including ‘testing your senses’, ‘cloud in a jar’, ‘chemistry cleans pennies’, ‘erupting apples’ and ‘film canister rockets’.
The schools will then evaluate the bags as part of the RAiSE (Raising Aspirations in Science Education) initiative – a collaboration between Education Scotland, The Wood Foundation and local authorities.
Moray Council’s Primary Science Development Officer said: “These STEM bags will hopefully not only engage parents and children in fun STEM activities, but also help to improve the children’s overall STEM enthusiasm and engagement. Ultimately, it could help to raise attainment and achievement, building awareness and knowledge of science within families.”
