Moray’s newest nursery seeks inspiration for new logo
The children in Moray’s newest early years centre are seeking help from their Buckie community to inspire a logo for Lady Cathcart Nursery.
As the new nursery, which has opened as part of the Scotland-wide Early Learning and Childcare expansion, isn’t linked to a school it doesn’t have its own identity, logo or colours.
Now the search is on to find a budding artist locally to help design a logo for the nursery – the competition is open to anyone of any age or artistic ability, all that’s required is enthusiasm.
New Nursery Manager at Lady Cathcart, Gilli Hearns, said of the competition: “We’re well aware here at Lady Cathcart Nursery that Buckie folk have a real connection with the building itself as well as the town and its heritage.
“It wasn’t that long ago Lady Cathcart was still a school, as it was intended to be when it was originally built in 1869, so we know many people in the community will have links to us and we invite them all to share their ideas for a logo and suggestions for school colours.”
Chair of Moray Council’s Children and Young People’s Services Committee, Cllr Sonya Warren is keen to see the community’s designs.
“The Lady Cathcart building holds a special place in the hearts of the Buckie community and I’m sure many will relish the opportunity to let their creativity flow and contribute their ideas to inspire the new nursery logo. I look forward to seeing all the suggestions and the new design.”
Inspiration might draw upon the building, the heritage of Buckie, our wonderful seascapes - anything that helps to identify Lady Cathcart Nursery as our newest early years centre in Moray.
Members of the community are invited to submit their logo designs in black and white by 5pm on Monday 24th September to kirsty.boyle@moray.gov.uk or in person or post to Lady Cathcart Nursery, School Lane, Buckie, including their name, contact details and any story behind their design.
The winning design will be unveiled at the official opening of Lady Cathcart Nursery on Monday 1st October.
