Appeal made after bike stolen in Basingstoke robbery

Do you remember being in the Chineham area of Basingstoke around 6.20pm on Tuesday 2 January?

If so, you might be able to help with our investigation into a robbery in which a 16-year-old boy was forced to hand over his mountain bike.

The victim was cycling on a footpath between Crockford Lane and Reading Road when he was approached by two males.

They told him to give them the bike. They then nudged him before the boy handed the bike to them.

The first male is described as:
• white
• aged 16 to 17 years old
• around 5ft 7ins tall
• of slim build
• had a hood up
• wearing a black Puffa-style jacket, black gloves, black jeans and black trainers

The second male is described as:
• white
• of a similar age to the first male
• around 6ft tall
• of medium build
• wore a black Nike top, black jeans and dark trainers

We have released a picture of the bike, which is described as a blue and green Carrera Hellcat 15 limited edition men’s mountain bike.

Police staff investigator Samantha Stelfox said: “We are keen to hear from anyone with information on this incident.

“Were you in the Crockford Lane/Hanmore Road area of Chineham that day? Perhaps you recognise the bike and have seen it recently?”
