«Bear invasion» in Oslo

A special bear programme during EuroPride paves the way for a bear invasion in Oslo.

The Norwegian Bear Club now uses their whole European network to draw people to Oslo and EuroPride 2014. With a special bear programme from June 25th to June 29th, Oslo now prepares for a  bear invasion.

“The Norwegian Bear Club are one of the groups that bring much needed colour and diversity to Oslo Pride. Last year they won the Pride Parade price with their bathtub themed float,” says Oslo Prides chairperson Stein Runar Østigaard. (Take a look at the rehearsal video the Norwgian bears put online before their Pride Parade performance from 2013 in the end of this article)

During EuroPride Oslo Pride makes a special “Bear Bar” in Pride Park at  The Town Square (Rådhusplassen), in cooperation with the bear club. In Pride Park the bears will have their own stand as well.

“We will do our best to liven up the parade and "Bear Bar" area in Pride Park this year. We now hope to se as many bears and friends as possible during EuroPride in Oslo this summer. I can promise that no one will fail to notice us,” says Chairperson of the Norwegian Bear Club, John Earhart.

In addition to the strong visibility in Pride Park and in the EuroPride Parade, the Norwegian Bear Club organises several events from Wednesday to Sunday during the EuroPride week.

The bear pride programme includes a “welcome pub night” at Rendezvous Kro, participation in the EuroPride Parade and, of course, the “Mega Bear Party”, which will be held at the club Ballroom this year. The bear programme closes with a guided tour of the Royal Palace on Sunday the 29^th of June.

“Norway Bears now sends out invitations, posters and flyers to many bear clubs and others friends in their Scandinavian and European network. This paves the way for a bear invasion in Oslo during EuroPride this summer,” concludes Stein Runar Østigaard, chairperson of Oslo Pride.
