Practical Action to host side event to the Skoll World Forum

Practical Action will be hosting a side event to the Skoll World Forum entitled ‘Innovations in Last Mile Distribution’. The event will be on April 12th at Vincent’s Club in Oxford in partnership with BoP Innovation Center and Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship.

The event will feature presentations from three panellists, Valerie Mazon from Danone Communities, Meera Shah from Shell Foundation and Elizabeth Smith from EYElliance, who will share the cutting-edge innovations in their distribution projects. This will be followed by a world café discussion to identify and discuss other innovations in the sector and to what extent they are delivering impact and scale; as well as those areas where innovation is still needed.

If you’re interested in how to bring socially impactful products – be they solar lights, water filters, clean cookstoves, nutritious food, spectacles or sanitary napkins – to people at the base of the pyramid effectively and at scale, come and join this exciting conversation with social entrepreneurs, investors, donors, NGOs, and technology manufacturers.

This event will be facilitated by the Global Distributors Collective, a new initiative being incubated by Practical Action. The GDC is a partnership-based model that acts as a ‘one stop shop’ for last mile businesses, offering support, information and expertise to overcome the challenges of accessing life-changing technologies. It provides a collective voice for distributors to ensure their voice is heard; drives research and innovation across the sector; facilitates the exchange of information, insight and expertise; and helps pilot, test and scale innovative solutions.
