Work ongoing to tackle road flooding in Ramsbottom

Work is now well under way to tackle flooding caused by a broken culvert in Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom.

Various utility companies, whose unauthorised pipes and cables had broken the culvert, are on site to divert their services so that Bury Council can carry out permanent repairs.

Leaflets have been delivered to residents who live nearby informing them of the work being carried out.

The council had carried out excavation work before Christmas to divert the flow of water via a temporary culvert.

Open Reach (telecoms) have now completed the first stage of their works and removed the unauthorised cabling from the culvert.

National Grid (gas) will divert their gas service pipes from the culvert in the week starting Monday 8 February.

Excalon(electricity) plan to divert their electricity service cables from the culvert starting on 11 February.

United Utilities (water) have yet to provide dates for the diversion of their water services running through the culvert.

The works, with the exception of those by United Utilities, are expected to take 14 days to complete.

There will be restrictions on parking and pedestrian access during this time, and two-way traffic control signals.

To minimise disruption, work on the highway will only be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
