New cable glands for Ex and standard environments

Phoenix Contact’s new cable glands offer cable sealing and feed-throughs for standard as well as Ex environments.

The cable glands for Ex applications are certified for Ex e/Ex i and comply with both the ATEX and IECEx guidelines. Accordingly, they offer the highest possible level of safety for industrial environments with explosive atmospheres. The cable glands offer a large sealing area as well as excellent strain relief thanks to the laminated clamping cage design. Vibration-proof plastic variants are designed so that the cap nuts are protected against over-tightening. The metal cable glands are also available as EMC variants where the shielding mesh is permanently connected via earthing cones.

The new standard cable glands are especially well-suited to applications where the cables are subjected to strong pulling forces. They ensure secure fastening of highly flexible movable conductors as well as round cables. The products with protection class IP 68 are internationally certified and offer sealing on the housing via a moulded lip seal and O ring. The plastic and metal versions of the cable glands can be deployed in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +100°C.
