Aylesford resident tackles Resolution Run for the Stroke Association

An Aylesford beautician is taking on the Stroke Association’s Resolution Run on Sunday 5 March 2017 at Bearsted Woodland Trust.

Emma Foster, 33, who founded Mirror Mirror in Aylesford, was inspired to take on the run after her father Harry had two strokes, and sadly passed away in 2006.

Emma, who cared for her father after his first stroke in 2001 said: “I miss my dad every day, but I know that he would be so proud of me running the Resolution Run for such a worthy cause as the Stroke Association.

“Dad’s death left us in shock, not just because he was so fit and healthy; but because the last thing we expected was a stroke. Up until that point we knew very little about stroke, but we’re now passionate as a family to make sure more people know about the condition.

“The support the Stroke Association gives survivors and their families is fantastic and I want to help them be there for everyone affected by stroke.”

The Stroke Association is encouraging people to make a pledge which counts, and take part in a 5k or 10k Resolution Run on Sunday 5 March 2017 at Bearsted Woodland Trust.

The event is one of 31 fundraising Resolution Runs taking place across the UK this spring. These runs provide the perfect motivation to get in shape after Christmas, while helping to conquer stroke.

Becky Beard, Fundraising Manager at the Stroke Association in the South East, said: “There are around 1.2 million people in the UK today living with the impact of stroke, so it’s vital that we have people like Emma who can raise funds for people affected by stroke. We can’t wait to cheer her on as she crosses the finish line.

“At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and exercising more. The money raised through the Resolution Run will help the Stroke Association to fund vital research and help support people affected by stroke in the South East.”
