B&Q staff raise some serious dough for the Stroke Association

Members of staff across fourteen B&Q stores in the South East have taken part in a bake sale on Wednesday 26 October, raising over £2,700 for the Stroke Association.

The charity’s latest fundraising initiative, Give a Hand and Bake, saw people across the UK roll up their sleeves, grab a mixing bowl and bake to help make a difference for people affected by stroke.

Graham Stoodley, Trade Point Manager from B&Q Gillingham, said: “Taking part in the Stroke Association’s Give a Hand and Bake meant a lot to our store in particular. A member of staff in our branch recently had a stroke, which came as a huge shock to us all. We now realise just how devastating stroke can be, and how important it is to have such an amazing charity like the Stroke Association around.

“We were incredibly grateful to the rest of the other regional stores for getting involved in Give a Hand and Bake, and helping to raise vital funds for the charity.”

Becky Beard, Community Events and Fundraising Manager at the Stroke Association, said: “The B&Q team have truly gone the extra mile for the Stroke Association. Without the efforts of fundraisers like this, we wouldn’t be able to support the 120,000 people in the South East who are currently living with the devastating effects of stroke, as well as their families and carers.”
