Charity calls for fundraisers to face the Halloween heat
The Stroke Association is calling for daredevils to walk barefoot across burning coals and raise vital funds at a Halloween firewalk at Hillsborough Arena, Sheffield.
Taking place on Saturday 31 October from 7pm, the challenge involves walking across 20 feet of wood embers, burning at temperatures up to 1300°F. Full training is provided beforehand.
The firewalk will be followed by a Halloween party for all the family, with music, food, games, fancy dress. The party will also be supported by Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind and other local charities.
Debra Rawlings, Regional Fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “The firewalk is set to be a thrilling experience and a great way to raise money for the Stroke Association. For those who are brave enough to take part, why not get into the life and soul of the event and take part in Halloween themed fancy dress?
“All the money raised by our firewalkers will go towards research into preventing strokes, and supporting thousands of stroke survivors and their families as they adjust to a life after stroke. By helping to raise vital funds, together we can conquer stroke.”
Registration and training for the walk begins at 7pm. The firewalk costs £30 to register, and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship.
