Jersey resident takes on Resolution Run for the Stroke Association

Daniel Le Templier from St Martin, Jersey, is taking on the Stroke Association’s Resolution Run on Sunday 19 March at Les Landes Race Course in Jersey.

Daniel, 26, was inspired to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association after his grandfather had a mini-stroke (TIA, also known as transient ischaemic attack) in 2015, aged 83. Sadly, in August 2016, Daniel’s grandfather passed away.

Daniel said: “Seeing the devastation stroke can cause motivated me to run the Resolution Run for the Stroke Association. It was a huge shock to find out that my grandfather had a mini-stroke and I really want to help raise awareness and much needed funds for such a worthy cause.

“The support the Stroke Association gives survivors and their family is fantastic and I want to help them be there for everyone affected by stroke.”

Tracy O’Regan, Fundraising and Operations Manager at the Stroke Association, said: “There are around 1.2 million people in the UK today living with the impact of stroke, so it’s vital that we have people like Daniel who can raise funds for people affected by stroke. We can’t wait to cheer him on as he crosses the finish line.”

At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and exercising more. The money raised through the Resolution Run will help the Stroke Association to fund vital research and help support people affected by stroke in Jersey.
