Macclesfield woman stages live music event in memory of father
Kiara Bailey, 25 from Macclesfield, is inviting local people to The Swan With Two Necks on Friday 03 May, for an evening of live music to raise funds for the Stroke Association.
Carer Kiara was inspired to raise funds for the charity in memory of her father, Derek Alan Jervis, who passed away after a stroke in May 2018 aged just 57.
Kiara said: “My dad had his stroke while on holiday on his barge. He was rushed to hospital but his condition worsened over the next 36 hours, before he sadly passed away.”
Kicking off at 7:30pm, the fundraising event will see four live bands perform, including Kiara and her husband Josh who perform covers from genres such as blues, rock, pop and indie. Five Past Midnight, a female led rock group playing covers of artists such as Guns N Roses, Shinedown and Bon Jovi, will headline the evening.
Also performing will be 60's grunge and blues covers band, The Floorboards, as well as The Gritstone Clays, an acoustic band performing blues, country and folk music.
Guests can also enter a raffle with prizes donated from the local community and other businesses, plus enjoy games around the pub to play on the night.
Kiara added: “We chose The Swan with Two Necks as it’s a renowned music venue, and we’d love for people in Macclesfield to join us and help raise vital funds for others affected by stroke. I chose to support the Stroke Association as it’s a fantastic charity which helps so many stroke survivors across the UK. I know they would have helped my dad if he had survived, and it will help to bring me some closure.”
Sian Thomas, Community and Events Fundraiser for the Stroke Association, said: “A stroke can happen to anyone at any time and it turns lives upside down in an instant. We’re incredibly grateful to Kiara for organising the evening, and with her support we can reach out to more stroke survivors and their families as they rebuild their lives.”
