New Year’s Resolution to kick-start the ‘feel good’ factor

What better way to shake off those winter blues than a New Year’s resolution to get outside and revitalise the spirit. The Stroke Association is encouraging people to get going and shape up after Christmas by signing up to a 5k or 10k Resolution Run. This takes place on Sunday 13 March 2016 at Glasgow Green in Glasgow.

Kicking off at 10:30am, this fun run provides the perfect motivation to get fit after the Christmas holidays all while raising vital funds for charity.

Kirsty Scott,Community and Events Fundraising Manager at the Stroke Association, said: “1 in 6 of us will have a stroke and it is the leading cause of impairment and disability in Scotland. The important thing to remember is that strokes are preventable and if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control, eating healthy food and exercising more then there could be fewer strokes. We’re encouraging people in Glasgow to get fit and take part in our Resolution Run, with friends, family or on their own. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned runner, we welcome participants of any ability and you can choose your own pace and distance.

“The event is now in its fourth year at Glasgow Green; last year we had nearly 500 runners and raised over £20,000. The money raised will fund vital research and will go towards preventing stroke and supporting people affected by stroke in Scotland.”

Registration for the Resolution Run begins at 9:30am with a 10:25am pre-run warm up and 10:30am start. Entry fee is just £15 with a technical t-shirt or running vest. All runners will be provided with a goody bag containing a medal, water and some other snacks to celebrate their achievement.
