Petersfield stroke survivor takes a Step Out for Stroke at Canoe Lake
A local stroke survivor from Petersfield is set to take part in the Stroke Association’s Step Out for Stroke event at Canoe Lake at 11am on Saturday 13 May.
Lesley Eves, 49, is taking part alongside her daughter Lauren, after having a life changing stroke in 2015. Lesley’s stroke left her with right sided weakness and the communication difficulty aphasia.
Lesley said: “Having aphasia is hard. I don’t go out much, but my family helps. I have no confidence, I don’t talk to people, I have difficulty brushing hair, and can’t do make up now. The Stroke Association have helped me, this is my thank you to them. The Step Out will be a big challenge for me, but my daughter will be with me every step of the way.”
Tammy Angus, Community and Events Fundraiser, at the Stroke Association, said: “Step out for Stroke is a fun walk that everyone can be part of, no matter what your age or fitness level. We’re hugely grateful to Lesley and Lauren for joining us for this year’s event”.
“We’re inviting the whole community to come to this fun day out and help us make it an event to remember. Our Step Out for Stroke events mark a milestone for many stroke survivors taking part, and it’s an event that the whole family will enjoy. Everyone taking part will be joined by hundreds of people across the UK who are walking to raise vital funds for everyone affected by stroke.”
