Southwark resident to tackle Thames Path Challenge for the Stroke Association

Anelise Rosa, 24, from Southwark is preparing to run 100km to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

Anelise was inspired to take on the Thames Path Challenge after her father, Carlos experienced a life-changing stroke whilst on holiday in Portugal, in 2014.

Anelise said: “My father is such a strong and caring person who has always worked hard for us as a family. The stroke affected his ability to speak, and left him with weakness down the right side of his body.

“I’m raising funds for the Stroke Association as it’s been invaluable in supporting my father in meeting other stroke survivors, and understanding more about his stroke. He’s gone from strength to strength with his recovery, and really built on his confidence.

“I want to do as much as possible, to help raise awareness to help other people understand about this terrible condition. I’ve really been enjoying my training so far and I’m really looking forward to making my father proud on the day.”

We’re incredibly grateful to her for choosing to support the Stroke Association; the money raised will go a long way in helping to support people who are living with the effects of stroke, and their families and carers, as well as help to prevent people from having a stroke.”
