Survivors take a Step Out for Stroke in Liverpool alongside DJ Kev Seed
Around 170 stroke survivors and Merseyside residents raised more than £1,800 for the Stroke Association, by taking part in the charity’s Step out for Stroke walk in Croxteth Park on Saturday 06 May.
Liverpool DJ Kev Seed, 48, officially opened the walk, after having a stroke in July 2016 caused by a bleed on the brain. The former Radio City, Wish FM, Juice FM and Rock FM presenter, who was a household name on Merseyside in the late 1990s to mid 2000s, fell ill while going for a meal. Mr Seed officially opened the walk to mark a milestone in his recovery.
The day also included lots of family-friendly activities including performances by choirs from St Michael’s Catholic Primary School, Liverpool 6 and St Laurence’s Catholic Primary School, Liverpool 32.
Laura McMullin, Community and Events Fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “The local community really helped us to make this an event to remember and we’re delighted with the turnout and amount raised. It was a great atmosphere and we’re very grateful to everyone for their support.
“Our Step Out for Stroke events mark a milestone for many stroke survivors taking part and some truly inspirational people took their first steps since their stroke. It was wonderful to have Kev Seed join us to open the walk; everyone who took part has helped to raise vital funds for people affected by stroke.”
