Get Connected Electric Car Show November 2017

At the beginning of November, Q-Park hosted its first electric vehicle event, electric car show Get Connected MCR. The event was held over two days in the brand new, stylish and secure Q-Park car park Deansgate North, Manchester, which is now fully equipped with electric charging points provided by partners Franklin Energy.

As a way to showcase electric vehicle infrastructure in the North and within Q-Park car parks, Q-Park invited along electric vehicle manufacturers, dealerships, and industry related exhibitors, such as fleet management companies, and electric car clubs. With the likes of the Tesla, BMW, and Renault amongst the electric cars on show and with an electric car meet for owners on the Saturday, there was plenty to look at and exhibitors and customers alike had the chance to talk about their passion for electric vehicles and to learn more about each sector.

On the days of the event, entertainment was provided by Q-Park in the way of a giant scalextric set, which was ideal for kids and big kids! The scalextric even had a themed Q-Park multi-storey car park!

Q-Park also brought in a virtual reality experience, which was not for the faint-hearted! An excellent experience was had by all who tried tasks such as walking a plank and taking a ride on a rollercoaster. It's harder than it looks!

Although the first event of its kind by Q-Park, and one of few in the North, the two days were a success, with a niche set of visitors all interested in the companies involved and in learning more about the move to an electric vehicle. There have been many requests by exhibitors and visitors to make this a frequent event and all that can be said for now is ‘watch this space!’

Q-Park is the first car park operative to offer charging facilities in all operating cities in the North and is continuing efforts to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to electric vehicle infrastructure. Q-Park expands this effort into its green parking ethos, teaming up with electric car companies, such as Green Motion, using less energy in all facilities – for example, new LED sensored lights across all car parks – and offering 50% off season tickets for electric vehicle owners.

John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing at Q-Park UK, said, ‘Get Connected MCR was an excellent way to showcase the efforts by Q-Park to remain true to its green ethos and for industry related companies to join in and show how they can help create a more sustainable future. It was great to hear such good feedback from the first event and is an exciting time for the electric vehicle movement, early adapters to the technology and for future owners.’
