First ever Mayor’s fete set to promote local charities

A day of fun and excitement is on the cards as the inaugural Mayor’s Charity Country Fete looks set to entertain families on Sunday 21 September.

Held at Rochdale Riding Club Showground between 10am and 4pm, the fete is raising funds in support of Rochdale Children’s Moorland House, Springhill Hospice and the Heywood Youth Link.

The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Carol Wardle said:

“I’m overjoyed that during my period of office, the first Mayor’s Charity Fete is taking place. We have a whole range of activities and competitions on offer for children and adults alike so it will be a truly memorable day.”

“The charities that we are supporting resonate with each of our borough’s residents. They have an excellent ethos and committed staff.”

“This event is guaranteed to be great fun so make sure you don’t miss out.”

On the day guests will be entertained by a host of different stalls and attractions, including novelty pony classes, a falconry display, henna hand painting and many others.

Likewise, for those with a competitive spirit a number of contests are available to take part in - ranging from dog shows and gymkhana, to bakery competitions and an assault course. Applications must be received by 13 September at the latest.

A traditional farmers’ market, fairground rides and a hog roast will also be present throughout the day.

This year’s Mayor of Rochdale’s Charity Country Fete is sponsored by Crown Oil, Yearsley Group and Toyota RRG Rochdale. All proceeds will go to the selected charities.
