Vote for your favourite book

The search for the borough’s favourite book is reaching its conclusion, so with just over a month to go before voting closes. there’s still time for your vote to count!

A competition to find the boroughs residents’ favourite book was launched earlier this year by the organisers of Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival to celebrate 40 years of the borough.  People were asked to nominate their favourite book of the last four decades.  A fascinating shortlist of 28 titles are now subject to an online vote.

To take a look at the nominations and cast your vote, visit www.rochdaleliteraturefestival.co.uk and click on ‘Competitions’.

The closing date is Thursday 23 October and the winning title will be announced at this year’s festival, so get voting!

Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival runs from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 October, with a feast of events covering drama, comedy, dance, music, theatre, films, visual arts and children’s shows.

The festival is due to the generosity of Annie and Frank Maskew, a Rochdale couple who shared a passion for reading and thinking, who originally met in Rochdale Library. They left a sum of money to be used on resources and events related to literature and philosophy to ensure classic works are available for future generations.

The festival is organised by Rochdale Borough Council, funded by the Maskew Bequest.
