ACR Electronics: Southampton Boat Show: ACR Electronics Celebrates 60 Years of Manufacturing at Southampton Boat Show

Southampton Boat Show 2016, Mayflower Park, 16th to 25th September, Stand B017/J247 (FORCE 4 CHANDLERY)

Safety and survival specialist ACR Electronics, a Drew Marine Company, is celebrating its diamond anniversary during this year’s Southampton Boat Show. Over the past 60 years, ACR has had the honor of manufacturing lifesaving equipment for military forces, aviation and space programs, and for maritime and outdoor enthusiasts around the world.

New products for 2016 include the ACR Electronics compact Firefly PRO rescue lights, as well as its C-Strobes and C-Lights waterproof LED personnel distress lights. Additional devices at this year’s show include the new GlobalFix V4 EPIRB and the ResQLink Personal Locator Beacon, plus the ACR AISLink CA1 and CB1 AIS transceivers.

The company was founded by the late David Rush and has traded ownership four times since its inception in 1956. Throughout ACR Electronics’ ownership changes, location moves and company acquisitions, the company’s commitment to quality has remained the same.

Dating back to the 1970 penlight which helped save the crew on the Apollo 13 mission, ACR lights have led troops through treacherous nights, while ACR beacons have been activated to save thousands of people at sea and on land.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, ACR Electronics will host various celebrations over the course of the next six months and hold events at its 50,000 square foot headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for its 180 employees.

Helping to build the company’s home community, ACR is also participating in philanthropic projects, including:

  • Donation of emergency beacons to Boy Scouts of America
ACR has provided 20 Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) to the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, to use in its boating program. The beacons will help to teach the youngsters and adults about safety precautions and raise awareness about life-saving beacons.
  • Donation of emergency beacons to the Eckerd College Search and Rescue Team
ACR has provided 20 PLBs to the EC-SAR, which is the only college marine rescue team in the US. There will be enough beacons for each responder on shift while he or she is conducting rescues in their dedicated response area of Tampa Bay, Florida.
  • Sponsorship of Sea Tow Foundation’s new beacon rental program
ACR will provide PLBs and Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRBs) to the Sea Tow Foundation, which they will in turn lease to boaters. All proceeds earned from the beacon rentals will then be reinvested into Sea Tow Foundation’s other lifesaving programs like their Designated Skipper Campaign, Life Jacket Loaner Program and later possibly be further invested in extending their emergency beacon rental program.

ACR will also host an event at this year’s Ft Lauderdale International Boat Show.
