Brands to find fairy-tale ending to their digital story at Sitecore Digital Trendspot 2014

Sitecore Digital Trendspot 2014 - Thursday 10th April 2014 – Business Design Centre, Islington

London – 19th February 2014 – The fourth annual Sitecore Digital Trendspot launches today, inviting marketers from across the UK to a one day event that will enable them to discover the art of digital brand story-telling and learn about the tools required to implement an effective, future-proof digital strategy.

This year’s event will be led by three keynote speakers; world renowned futurist and digital strategist, Anders Sorman Nilsson, web psychologist and award-winning speaker Nathalie Nahai, and respected digital visionary, Dietmar Dahmen.

To illustrate the theme of story-telling, Sitecore Digital Trendspot 2014 has taken four classic fairy tales; Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Three Little Pigs and Hansel and Gretel, and re-worked these stories to blend in the impact that digital might have had on the narrative. The purpose of this is to highlight each of the four key pillars of effective digital storytelling, to show how digital has fundamentally changed the way businesses tell their brand story, and demonstrate to marketers the importance of positioning their customers as the hero of their digital story.

Sitecore will also welcome the following six brand experts to lead two discussion panels on digital storytelling:

  • Justin Cooke, CEO of POSSIBLE
  • Chris Marsh, Head of Technical Architecture - Europe at AKQA
  • Melissa MacFarlane, Digital Marketing Manager at Ministry of Sound
  • David Crawford, MD of Branded3
  • Tom Head, director of Lab
  • Jason Ali, Digital Marketing Manager at First Great Western.

Leading brands, including Manchester City Football Club, Chester Zoo, Royal Navy, Monarch Airlines, Nissan Australia and Visit Wales, will provide delegates with insight into their own digital strategies and how they have communicated their brand story to customers.

Shawn Cabral, marketing director, Sitecore UK, commented:

“This year’s Sitecore Digital Trendspot will examine the importance of digital brand storytelling, and how marketers can use digital marketing to tell a personalised story to each of their customers. Using a single customer experience platform, marketers can begin to see all of a customer’s interactions, and a brand can then deliver a unique brand conversation - their story, to the customer.  The big change is that the customer is now the central character, they call the shots – not the brand, and marketers need to adapt to this mindset.

“Our digital adaptations of four classic fairy tales will help to get this message across, and explore how the story would have changed if Red Riding Hood had had a mobile phone for example. Will our characters now live happily ever after?”

Anders Sorman Nilsson, keynote speaker at Sitecore Digital Trendspot 2014, comments:

“Whether we like it or not, everything in the world around us seems to becoming increasingly digitalised. Without permission, the environment for marketers is changing, consumers are mobilising and taking their most important matters, literally, into their own hands.

“And while this change can be daunting, it creates a massive opportunity for brands to contextual storytelling, and this is what we will outline at Sitecore Digital Trendspot.”

Tickets to Sitecore Digital Trendsport 2014, which will be held at the Business Design Centre in Islington on Thursday 10th April, cost £150 exc VAT. For more information on the event, including registration details please click here.
