Press release -

Eversheds sponsors SportsBall for two more years

Eversheds has confirmed another two years of sponsorship for SportsAid’s SportsBall as a top-tier ‘Presenting Partner’ of the prestigious charity event which supports the next generation of British athletes.

The commitment will see the law firm through to the charity’s 40th anniversary in 2016 following more than a decade of support for the event and SportsAid’s athletes.

Lee Ranson, Eversheds' managing partner, commented, “Eversheds is extremely proud to have sponsored well over 100 able-bodied and disabled young athletes under the SportsAid scheme. The drive and dedication of these athletes is truly inspirational and it is great to see them go on to achieve incredible results at competitive events. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with SportsAid and helping even more young athletes to fulfil their potential.”

The SportsBall has grown considerably since Eversheds first teamed up with SportsAid in 2006, attracting live performances from Olympic gymnasts Louis Smith and Sam Oldham and seeing two on-stage appearances from Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Another highpoint came in 2013 when Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, SportsAid’s Patron, presented the charity’s One-to-Watch award to Rio hopeful Amber Hill.

SportsAid’s chief executive Tim Lawler welcomed the news, saying, “Eversheds has made a huge contribution to the success of the SportsBall over last decade and we’re proud of their association with our flagship event. They are one of SportsAid’s longest-standing partners and we are grateful for their loyalty to the cause.

"We look forward to the big opening at the London Hilton on the 5th of November.”

In addition to sponsoring the SportsBall, Eversheds has provided essential funding and support for more than 100 SportsAid athletes since 2006, some of whom – like diver Hannah Starling – have gone on to compete at the Olympic Games.

Tickets for Gold and Black tables at the SportsBall have now sold out but the last remaining Red tables are still available. Book today at sportsball.org.uk.
