Pampered pooches travel in style with new Stena Line partnerships

OUR four legged friends can now travel in style on the Irish Sea as leading ferry company Stena Line has launched its upgraded Dog Lodges on the Belfast to Liverpool route.

To encourage people to bring their pooches onboard and book them into a lodge Stena Line has partnered with Armagh company, Mackle Petfoods, and Bangor-based online retailer Urban Pup to offer the VIP treatment.

Mackle Petfoods, which produces Brandy dog food is sponsoring the new Dog Lodges by providing hungry hounds with complimentary food and dog bowls for use onboard.

Mackle’s are also making sure you no longer have to leave man’s best friend at home with a 16 week promotion on Brandy dog food, giving consumers the chance to win one of 50 Stena Line trips for their family, car and their dog with 300 runners-up of Brandy dog travel sets.

Local online retailer Urban Pup is teaming up with Stena Line to help entertain your pets onboard with a doggy welcome pack including a squeaky toy for every pup.

Neil Palmer, Route Marketing Manager – Irish Sea North, Stena Line said:  “Your Very Important Pooch can now travel in comfort in our upgraded Dog Lodges on our Belfast to Liverpool route. We have space for eight ferry doggie guests and each of the pampered pooches will receive complimentary food from Mackle Petfoods and a doggy welcome pack from UrbanPup.com.

“The Stena Line Dog Lodge has room for eight small to large dogs in a specially heated and security protected area of the ship.  Owners can access their dogs at any point during the journey via a special key pad and code system.  The Dog Lodge has a specially designated walking area where dogs can be exercised and the dog-friendly cages are stainless steel making them hygienic and easy to clean”, continued Neil.

“Passengers can already take their dogs on all five of Stena Line’s routes in their cars but we understand that some owners like the option of having their canine buddies closer to them,” he added.

Gwen Rafferty, Sales and Marketing Manager of Mackle PetFoods, said: “We’ve teamed up with Stena Line to sponsor their refurbished Dog Lodges, making sure passengers’ beloved pets are looked after onboard with food so it’s one less thing to pack. For those who would like a getaway and don’t want to leave their dog behind, look out for our 16 week promotion on Brandy Dog Food to win a trip for you, your family and your dog”.

Denis Kelly, Managing Director of Urban Pup, said:  “We’re delighted to be offering dogs and their owners who travel with Stena Line a fun Doggie Welcome Pack that will help distract dogs on their journey.  We’ve even included a specially formulated Urban Pup dog shampoo as well as a discount voucher for our website, www.urbanpup.com, so the treats continue even after the trip.”
