Junior Tennis Stars In The Making At Stoke Park

Junior Tennis Programme Stoke Park Country Club, Spa and Hotel  situated in Buckinghamshire has a newly launched Junior Tennis Programme . Coached by a team of tennis professionals  using the LTA’s Mini Rating Scheme, it is a great way for Junior’s from ages of 4 – 11+ to develop their tennis skills and have chances to compete against players of a similar standard. Taught in the luxurious surroundings of Stoke Park’s first class tennis facilities which include 6 grass courts (Wimbledon spec), 4 floodlit artificial clay and 3 indoor courts. These facilities along with professional coaching and the ability to choose different stages to match each child’s individual ability are the perfect reason to enrol on this 10 week course.

Levels for the LTA’s Mini Rating Scheme start with Mini Aces & Reds, this level is for children aged between 4 and 6 years old. It enables them to learn and develop the basics based on the fundamental ABC – Agility, Balance and Co-ordination as well as speed, ball and racquet skills. Stoke Park’s tennis professionals place a great emphasis on having fun whilst playing tennis.

The next level is Mini Orange, this is played on a larger court then the Mini Reds and Aces with a low compression ball as this allows for better control and will help enhance technical development.
Mini Yellow follows after this, played on a full size court with the net at full height it technically develops ABC’s and secure confidence on the court. Finally the last level is Mini Green this stage aims to promote longer rallies, ensuring they progress into full games encouraging them to play matches and be competitive. More information on each level, court size and different balls used, simply visit the Stoke Park Junior Tennis Programme on their website as this clearly outlines and answers any questions you may have.

The parents/carers play a fundamental role to ensure the children get the most out of the Junior Tennis Programme, by simply following these three top tips for parents:

1) Practise, Practise, Practise whether it is at home, on holiday or with friends it is important to maintain the skills learnt
2) Encourage good behaviour, fair play and sportsmanship in lessons and matches whilst applauding both players in the match
3) Help your child to understand that respect for the rules, opponents and officials, is part of playing and enjoying the game

The next programme starts week commencing the 15th September and finished during week commencing 10th December, for a complete 10 week course the price per child is £99 this includes 10 hours of group coaching and a “Junior Programme” t-shirt. Timings and days do vary depending on which level the children may be at, timetables and booking forms can be picked up from our Spa Reception or you can email Spareception@stokepark.com or call 01753 717173.
