Stoke Park Is The Place To Be For Tennis

In just the last week, Stoke Park has played host to the top tennis players of the last forty years. Today’s stars flooded into Stoke Park from 19th-23rd June for The Boodles, an annual pre-Wimbledon grass exhibition event. The Boodles showcases world class tennis in an intimate country garden setting. Attendance on each day is strictly limited to 1,500 to ensure that no seat is farther than 8 metres from the court. The likes of World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, British No. 1 Andy Murray, Queen’s Champion Marin Cilic and Olympic Gold medallist Stanislas Wawrinka played over the five days but it was Cilic who emerged with the trophy in a thrilling match against Argentina’s Juan Monaco.

Then on 24th June, the courts were again busy as the stars on yesteryear competed in a Pro-Am event organised by the International Club of Great Britain. This event saw Wimbledon Champions Michael Stich and Stan Smith, Queen’s Champion Mark Philippoussis, Davis Cup winner Henri Leconte and British No. 1 Andrew Castle in action.

But that isn’t all, with the grass court season being extended by the London 2012 Olympics, Stoke Park will be home to the Russian Tennis Federation as they attempt to defend and add to their medal haul from Beijing. With the Ladies Gold, Silver and Bronze medals already in their possession, courtesy of Elena Dementieva, Dinara Safina and Vera Zvonareva, they have a lot to live up to. Stoke Park’s superb facilities, which include a heated indoor swimming pool, state of the art gymnasium and 13 tennis courts (the 6 grass courts adhere to the strict specifications of the All England Club where the Olympic matches will take place).

With facilities which attract the world’s best tennis players, it is no surprise that Stoke Park has a thriving tennis membership and a Club Pro who is constantly busy, providing coaching for members, hotel guests and corporate clinics.
