Strong growth of physalis export from Peru

In 2015 exports of physalis (goldenberry) from Peru totaled US $ 1.8 million, compared to US $ 687,431 in 2013. 

Between 2013 and 2015 the export of physalis grew by 161%, thanks to the identification of new market niches, product diversification and training of the entire value chain in which small producers have a leading role. 

Effectively last year the fruit was shipped to 34 markets worth US $ 1.8 million, an amount 15% higher than in 2014 (US $ 1.5 million) and 2013 when it was US $ 687.341.

The four main destinations, Netherlands, Germany, USA and Canada, accounted for 73% of the total. Other market are France, Japan, South Korea, UK, New Zealand, Australia and Chile, among others.
