Press release -

Peru and Colombia bring innovation, inspiration and Andean food attractions to London

Peru and Colombia will have a strong presence of Andean and Amazonian Super(b) foods at Food Matters Live London this year. At the join Peruvian/Colombian CBI stand visitors will find the latest these countries have to offer in terms of fine foods and functional foods. The stand will find some ingredients people may already know, but will also present different innovate formulas, new ingredients and inspiring food and beverages:

  • Four exciting summer and winter infusions made from a mix of Amazonian ingredients, giving you the taste and scent of the rainforest. Rich flavours and functional ingredients that will make your senses experience the real Amazon
  • All natural snack products from ancient grains like quinoa, canihua, amaranth and different Andean highland grains coming from the heart of the Inca region, Cusco
  • Some herbs and spices from the Andean highlands, rich in flavour and scent: oregano, paprika, different chili peppers, mint and dried mushrooms

Ingredients categories the stand presents:

  • Ancient grains, seeds and pulses like quinoa, chi, (purple) corn and others
  • Processed fruits such as mango, camu camu, lucuma, goldenberry and others
  • Functional ingredients like maca, sacha inchi, mesquite, yacon, waw cacao and others
  • Natural colours such as annatto, purple corn and curcuma
  • Specialty oils such as chia oil and sacha inchi oil

Tapping in to the plant protein trend:

Visitors will get an overview of existing and new sources of plant proteins from the Andean region; an overview of optimised formulas with well-known ingredients such as quinoa and other ancient grains, but also some new sources of proteins like canihua, sacha inchi flour and tarwi. Visitors will be introduced to a number of new products from these ingredients: breakfast cereals, dessert and bakery products

Healthy and functional foods:

Visitors will be given a presentation on how to benefit from the richness of natural and functional ingredients from the Amazon and the Andean region. An overview of optimised formulas with well-known ingredients such as dark cacao, quinoa, chia, maca, acai and others, as well as some other functional ingredients such as cupuacu, lucuma, camu camu and Andean dark mint. We will also do some tasting sessions to present some new products and flavours

At the stand there will also be some tasting sessions with some typical regional foods with a twist.

At the pavilion, you can get information about sourcing opportunities in South America, background information about ingredients and producers and learn more about the social impact the CBI programs have in the region. The growth of the natural ingredients in the region created jobs and economic development that offered a clear and positive solution against poverty, unemployment and coca growth. In Colombia our companies create new perspective in areas affected by the impact of a long civil war.
