Did you see a collision between two Land Rover Freelanders and a moped near Normandy?

A man is in a critical condition in hospital, after the moped he was riding was involved in a collision with two Land Rover Freelanders earlier this evening.

The head-on collision happened just before 5pm today, Sunday 30 June, on Westwood Lane, Normandy, near Guildford. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital in London by the air ambulance. His next of kin have been informed.

The occupants of one of the Land Rovers involved, which left the scene before returning after police arrived, have been arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a collision. The driver and passenger in the other Land Rover have also been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving offences, but are being taken to hospital as a precaution.

There were a number of witnesses who have already spoken with police, but we are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision, or the moments leading up to it, and has not yet spoken to officers. We are also very keen to see any dash-cam or helmet-cam footage from the immediate area covering the 15 minutes before the collision, in order to help with the investigation. In particular we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the manner of the driving of a black Land Rover Freelander and a green Land Rover Freelander in the minutes before the collision.

If you have information that could help our investigation, please call 101 (999 in an emergency) or visit our online reporting system quoting reference PR/P19146653.
